What is “Mad Honey” Sex Stimulant?
I read the other day about how men in the area of Turkey are going to the emergency room from a concoction that is commonly used as a sexual stimulant called “Mad honey”. This mad honey extract is one that is taken from a rhododendron type of flowering plant, and it is not only used as a sex aid, but it is also used for gastrointestinal related issues.
The honey is made by bees, and the beekeepers who sell this special honey do give a talk to prospective clients about the potential side effects of the honey. Because of a specific toxin that is concentrated in this honey, it produces some rather unsavory side effects in the men (or women) that take it, no matter for what purpose.
The side effects can include a slowed heart rate, dizziness and vomiting, and causes a sort of food poisoning state that forces people to check themselves into the ER. The reason it can be predicted that this mad honey is mostly used as a sexual stimulant in men is that the majority of people who check themselves into hospitals for the scary symptoms are middle aged to older males who have probably ingested the honey to improve their sexual performance, as a natural sexual enhancer.
The honey is supposedly somewhat safe in the right dosage, but the thought is that the users who are in the ER have ingested too much, and therefore experienced ingestion of too much of the toxin in the honey, making them feel sick. The unprocessed honey has grown in popularity over the years in this region, although I have not heard of this being sold or marketed here in the US, where we all know the sexual enhancement industry is always in full swing, which surprises me. Who know, we may see some version of this marketed in the near future.
Unprocessed honeys have a higher likelihood of this intoxication, while processed honeys do not contain these toxins as the natural ones do, so it is only likely to occur if the honey is not homogenized or processed in any way.
