Vatican Clarifies Acceptable Use of Condoms
I remember hearing a little while ago about how the Vatican, via the Pope himself, had declared that condom use was ok.
Well, apparently that got some people confused.
They thought that the pop had reversed the church’s well known stance that condoms were not acceptable, as was any other form of purposeful birth control.
Basically, strict Catholic teachings do not advocate artificial birth control of any kind because you are essentially interfering with God’s will when you are stopping conception from happening. In short, the only acceptable birth control is nature’s natural course, if a child is not meant to come to come to term.
When the Vatican came out in a lengthy interview and appeared to somewhat reverse that long held stance on condoms, some felt the need to clarify the pope’s meaning. The church apparently only meant that condom use was acceptable for a means of prevention of STD’s such as AIDS.
They also clarified that they would find condoms acceptable in cases such as male prostitution, which they again clarified they find highly immoral.
The Catholic church’s teachings on birth control are the reason that so many women had such large numbers of children and also had given birth to a lot of still born children back in the early part of the 20th century.
People like my grandmother actually would have had ten children if nature had not taken it’s course and taken 5 of the children away. That’s nature saying that women are not meant to bare that many children, if you ask me. I’m glad we live in a day and age where such archaic concepts are no longer adhered to so heavily.
It seems almost masochistic to subject women to these types of ridiculous standards, especially now that so many women also hold the title of breadwinner in their families.
