This is pretty much a moral outrage any way you shake it. Keep in mind, this happened some 60 years ago when controls to prevent this type of travesty against humanity were way more lax than they are today.  Apparently, there is evidence coming to light that the US did experiments on Guatemalans, injecting them with STD’s, without their knowledge, then studying them.

The STD’s were inoculated into the patients, and then that patients were encouraged to be reckless and pass on their disease as a part of the study, then to make matters worse, the subjects were not even adequately treated afterward for the STD they were given.

These days, this would never happen.  There are too many guidelines and restrictions set up on any type of medical research, especially when it comes to human research, that this type of unethical study would have never gotten off the ground. Thank goodness for that…
