Did you know that over 50% of the cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in the US are not life threatening? Nor will they progress to this status any time soon? I found this very interesting and cautiously optimistic. This means that the larger part of prostate cancers are really not in any sort of advanced stage of concern.
This is how the National Institute of Health is approaching their latest recommendation on treating the male cancer in men who are diagnosed with it in its earliest, least threatening stages. The institute is actually recommending that men who are diagnosed with the very beginning stage consder stalling treatment until it can be tested and shown that they acually need the treatment.
In this interesting move, which I find utterly fascinating since it is obviously a multi billion dollar industry, they are essentially telling men to wait to get expensive and often deadly of life threatening treatments. Hooray for the medical establishment, I must say.
This is actually a brave step in my eyes, although I’m sure it is not without controversey in other circles. Why would I think that? Well, because it could potentially be saving a lot of men from going through unnecessary, unhealthy hormone treatments and chemo and radiation, all of which can do more harm than good to the male body.
Men who are treated for prostate cancer often risk incontinence (not being able to control their bladder) as well as impotence, both of which can be life altering and devastating to the male phsyche, to say the least. Not to mention, I don’t personally believe in a lot of the medical cancer treatments out there today.
I think most of them actually make people sicker. I recognize the need for them at certain stages of a cancer, but in the earliest stages, when the problem may never even cause issues with the body, or spread, why would you put someone through medical hell and a pile of never ending bills? It all seems pointless.
And so, I must agree with the NIH’s assessment and recommendation. It is costing people millions in unnecessary bills, and also causing a lot of heartache when it needn’t. As long as a man is monitored for prostate cancer prevention and for any advances, this is the way to go – that is my personal opinion, and no I am not a doctor nor a medical professional, that’s just my feeling on the subject.
Making sure you are doing everything to maintain the health of your prostate is of vital importance as well. I’m a big believer in preventive medicine.
Well, I don’t know what’s worse – the real penis surgery which can help elongate the penis minimally and comes with some pretty large stakes attached, or the fact that people are apparently performing procedures on the penis that are not licensed and have no idea what they are doing.
You probably heard about some fake “doctors” doing things like injections and implants as well as liposuction and getting in trouble for it. The last one was an incident where a woman died because she had gotten illegal liposuction.
Now, there is news that a man has died after getting injections of silicone into his penis by someone who is not licensed to perform such procedures. A woman actually performed the procedure on the man, and he died shortly thereafter of an embolism that resulted from the injections.
Embolisms are where something travels from the point of injection to areas like the heart, blood vessels, or lungs, where it then causes issues with other bodily functions sometimes to the point of death.
Silicone injections are not something that should even be done. You are injecting pure silicone, which needs to be at least encased in an implant of some sort – right into the body with no protection around it. We have no idea what the long term effects are of silicone in the body either.
This is the same thing that marred the beautiful Priscilla Presley’s face as well. She had gone to get some work done on her face and was injected with indutsrial silicone, which ended up making her look stranged and basically scarring her face for life.
The man’s name was not disclosed in the penile injection case, and it is not clear why he allowed someone to do this incredibly irresponsible procedure on him.
Make sure that if you’re looking for penis enlargement options, do not ever fall prey to one of these “fake doctors”. These stories are cropping up way too often now, and these phony doctors are preying on people’s insecurities and hopes of getting something for nothing. There are plenty of natural, safe options to enlarge the penis without significant danger.
ED, or Erectile Dysfunction, which has many faces as well as many levels of severity in today’s men is linked to a great many drugs. In fact, some of the side effects of some of the most well known and most prescribed drugs on the market today come with sexual side effect warnings.
These sexual side effects can include anything from a reduce libido (which many times applies to both men and women) as well as actual problems getting an erection, or maintaining a full erection for very long. It ranges from impotence to simply premature ejaculation.
However, even drugs that don’t really have these sexual side effects on their own, when paired with other prescription medications, may make men more susceptible to varying levels of ED. Men were found to be at a higher risk the more medications they were on in a recent study.
This seems to indicate that combining drugs has an effect of either reducing libido so greatly that it ends up having a tangible effect on the erectile function of the penis, or having an effect on the actual mechanisms that make men get erections. This can range from decreasing blood flow to the penis to simply having other effects that we may not fully understand which affect the manual functions of the penis.
So, what’s the magic number? Well, the researchers found that the magic number, at least for the purposes and findings of this particular study, was three. Men that were on three or more medications simultaneously seemed to have a statistically higher incidences of ED.
It makes sense when you consider how many bodily functions three totally different drugs may have on the human body. The drugs may also have interactions with one another that even Doctors do not fully understand as of yet.
The consequences of these interactions may not even be evident or not even necessarily life threatening – they just may impact a part of the human body that isn’t considered vital to life which is sexual reproduction, desire and functionality.
The likelihood of ED reporting went much, much higher when men reported being on ten or more medications. First of all, I would hope there would be no reasonable purpose behind having someone on this many medications. Second, the likelihood more than doubled when men were on this many medications.
So, it stands to reason that the more medications you are on, the more likely it is you will suffer some form of ED. That’s why it’s always best to stay healthy and avoid the need for medications.
Hey guys, Jill here today. Wanted to talk to you about something that my husband and I are watching on television. It’s this tv show Friday Night Lights. It’s all about football, which of course my husband loves – but I love the stories about the people. No shocker, right?
This is the perfect show for men and women to watch together, especially if one’s a sport’s fanatic and the other isn’t, as in our case, because it combines sports and stories that are compelling with characters that are charismatic and get into your psyche.
Yes, yes I know the show ended just last year, so we’re a little late in watching it and getting into it like so many people did for those five years the show ran! One of the things I like about the show is that it shows high school and small town life in a somewhat realistic view – as realistic as Hollywood can get at least.
It also tells the story of the start quarterback, Jason Street, who has it all. He has a gorgeous head cheerleader girlfriend, the best gig on the big Texas football team where football is everyone’s life, and a loving family. However, that all changes when his fortunes take a turn for the worse and he becomes paralyzed after a hard hit on the field.
One of the things that is eventually broached, and I’m surprised with what honesty it’s broached on a network show, is whether this young person can have sex again, or ever have kids for that matter.
Turns out that with certain spinal cord injuries, men can have sex again, but it may take time for their body to heal and this essentially secondary function to come roaring back, so to speak. Men who have partial paralysis and lose the use of their legs, for example, may experience a lot of difficulty for a while, but it could disappear quickly once they get the hang of their new life.
Other men, who are more severely injured, may actually never be able to have intercourse again. It depends on where their injuries hit, and what nerves were damaged. The good thing is, a lot of physical therapy (as well as emotional therapy) can help men deal with the loss, or temporary loss, of something so important to them – their sexuality.

You may have seen the news a few weeks back that some fairly popular forms of birth control were being reconsidered for additional or new warnings on their labels as backed by the FDA.
Hey guys, this is Jill here to talk about something very important to a lot of women today who want to have a choice over whether they conceive a child after having unprotected sexual intercourse. This is a big issue, because some of the most popular methods of oral contraception are being questioned over safety issues.
That means a lot to many women who are on various types of pills because we’d all rather not take something that could potentially endanger our well being, even if the risk is infinitesimal. After all, if there are safer options out there, why risk it?
The birth control pills that received warnings to put more labeling on their products due to slightly higher blood clot risks were Yaz, which is a popular choice for women who want to minimize the side effects of birth control pills, and aslo want to perhaps enjoy clearer skin, and one of the popular “patches” that are used.
Both of these had slightly higher blood clot risks than some of the other types of birth control pills, but the increase was truly small. With any increased risk that is perceptible and proveable, they must put additional warnings on, which is what they are now required to do.
Some health experts and women’s health specialists are concerned that ladies everywhere will mistake these newly issued warnings as a new strike against all birth control pills. That’s not what this is. Although, all birth control pills come with the inclusion of a slightly higher risk of blood clot formation than non pill users.
The reason that most pills result in higher blood clot risks is the estrogen that is in them. This hormone can increase the risk of blood clotting. Blood clots can be very serious if they travel to certain areas of the body, like the brain or the lungs.
They can result in death in the worst scenarios. However, this risk can be greatly mitigated by not engaging in smoking if on the pill, and watching ones weight while on the pill. Also choosing a “low dose” pill may help since it may contain less of the estrogens that can cause the unsavory side effects mentioned.

Hello all MEM readers, and thanks for hanging in there another year with us to talk about men’s sexuality, get some great previews of what’s to come in men’s health, and talk about sex tips, products that are new and the best way to stay healthy and fit as a man.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
Are THAT many men really insecure about their penis size, or is this a myth that has been perpetuated by a society that seems to place a lot of value on the size of a man’s penis? Sort of like they place a lot of value on the size of a woman’s breasts? By the way guys, this is Jill here giving you a breath of fresh air in the form of a woman’s point of view on the subject.
I figured I could offer some insight in to the psyche that everything has to be bigger in order to be better. Why is that? Why are woman’s breasts considered so much more desirable to so many men when they are much larger than average? Is it because it is still somewhat of a rarity (although it really isn’t at all any more with the increasing popularity of breast augmentation surgery).
Or is it because we really do view abundance of any kind in so much more of a positive light? Money, being skinny, good looks – it’s all appealing when it is in abundance. So why would a man’s penis size be any different?
Not only do guys with bigger penises get viewed a bit more positively, but they may have somewhat of an orgasmic advantage when it comes to certain women. After all, bigger penises are better able to reach certain areas in the vagina and other important erogenous zones in the female anatomy.
But that is where men who aren’t so gifted in the size department can make up in spades. After all fellas, you have fingers and hands, and those can reach plenty of the female erogenous zones that are up for grabs – ie the labia, the clitoris, and more.
So, what percentage of men truly have a bit of a complex about their penis size? Given the popularity of penis enlargement devices and systems like the Size Genetics penis enlargement system, there are quite a few men who would love to have larger penises.
Is it to please their lovers more or to impress more when the unveil the family jewels to their lovers, or even in the locke room with the guys after they are at the gym or played a sport? It’s usually a combination of both, but most men will admit that it is mostly so that they feel more confident having sex with women.
They say they often notice that women just react more when they are bigger and harder, and that turns them on more as well, so it has a back and forth effect between the two partners making it a more pleasurable experience for both.
There has been a lot of conjecture about how laptops, which tend to get very hot on the lap due to their internal workings generating electrical heat (which can be helped by the fan inside, but only to a degree), can possibly hurt a man’s fertility by heating up his scrotum too much and damaging his sperm.
Now there is also talk that the mere fact that a laptop has WiFi capability, which is the ability to connect to an internet network wirelessly, may also have damaging effects on the male sperm count and the quality of the sperm the is manufactured in the testes.
Why would that be? Well, it sort of makes sense since there is also a lot of conjecture about WiFi actually being cancer causing when one’s body comes into frequent contact with the invisible radio waves. But how would it actually target sperm quality?
Well you see, this is not comforting so I’ll warn you, because it has implications for not only sperm, but also for all the cells of the body. The study showed that when sperm was subjected to wireless electromagnetic radiation, which is emitted when wireless signals are sent out there to search for a signal, they actually perished pretty quickly.
The sperm showed no signs of life after they were put in the path of electromagnetic waves generated by the WiFi laptop. This means that exposure to these waves can have damaging effects on the body’s cells and perhaps on the DNA as well. Not comforting at all considering these waves are flying around everywhere these days, not just in wireless cafes.
What does this mean for guys then? Well, it means that sitting on a laptop that has WiFi enabled may be cooking your sperm and you may not even know it. This perhaps can attribute to some of the cases of men “shooting blanks” who are trying to have a baby with their significant others.
If a guy is having problems conceiving with their partner, then this should be looked at and perhaps the use of wireless should be kept to a bare minimum.
