Latisse as a Hair Growth (On Head) Aid?
As you may well have heard, Latisse is a prescription-only eyelash growth product that has gained quite a bit of notoriety for being fairly effective at helping people grow their eyelashes out quickly. It also has the side benefit of making the eyelashes thicker and darker.
Could Latisse do the same thing for the hair on your head as a male hair growth promoter? Those that have issues with hair loss are certainly hoping so, and the company may be looking in to ways to market this product not only as an eyelash growth accelerator, but also a hair loss treatment.
The company that manufactures and owns the rights to the main active ingredient in Latisse is currently testing it for safety as a hair loss drug as well. It has actually been used off-label by some doctors to help their patients regrow and thicken thin hair on the head with some success as well.
It can also be used for those that are trying to regrow their eyebrows, so it makes sense that it would help to thicken and regenerate hair pretty much anywhere on the head.
It has been used with some success on hair on the head, and the surprising part is that it hasn’t darkened the hair or made the scalp dark. One big downside to the Latisse lash growth accelerator is that in rare cases it could cause pigmentation to occur in the eyes, or could even turn the eyes brown.
The product is expensive though, clocking in at about $100 for just 2 ounces. But the good part is that it would likely actually require less product to treat the various areas it needs to. Other topical hair loss products typically require twice as much as Latisse users are required to use to get results.
I’m assuming that if the company is working on studies for the head, it would come up with a more practical formula to be used on the head of hair vs. tiny areas like the ones that need treated for the eyebrows and eyelashes.
