If You Take Medication, Doe it Affect Your Semen?

I suppose that if you think about taking a medication, since it comes out sometimes in your other bodily secretions like your urine, your fecal matter and even sometimes your sweat, and since those are the three main ways in which your body detoxifies itself on a daily basis, and rids itself of unnecessary waste, it might make sense that something would actually create a presence in your semen, particularly if it is a strong medication.

But is there any real truth to that assumption, or does it only come out of the body in other ways?  Well, yes, apparently many drugs are secreted via the male semen that comes out when a man ejaculates.  However, the concentration is usually so low that it does not affect the person’s sexual partner in any way. If you are taking a drug that you are concerned could potentially affect your sexual partner because you think that the dosage is very high, then this may be something you want to make your partner aware of in case they have any allergies to it or may suffer adverse effects, or if you’re concerned, you could even wear a condom for a little while.

However, most likely the trace amounts will be so minimal that come out in your ejaculate, that usually the exposure rate will be so low that it will be undetected in the partner, so there is usually no reason to worry, if you’re worried about a particular medication or interactions for your partner, then you should contact your doctor to ask them if it’s ok.  That’s always the plan if you’re uncertain, as of course there are always bizarre, one off cases for just about anything !
