Coffee May Not Be Bad for Prostate Health After All

I love my coffee. I must admit, waking up in the morning to the smell of good, ground up (we love grinding our own coffee in the morning, so much better tasting and fresher) coffee is really one of the greatest things about waking up.  I savor those first few sips of java with the creamer and sugar and stevia in it as much as I savor my small dessert at night. It’s almost like a guilty pleasure for me, because I know that coffee isn’t really great for you.

It might be in it’s pure form, but the way I like it all sweetened and loaded with powdered creamer which has transfats and sugar probably isn’t the best combination. Sure, it may have some antioxidants, but I think that I pretty much make up for that in adding crap to it that it doesn’t need and that certainly doesn’t add to it’s nutritional value.

There has also been some speculation that coffee drinking men may be putting the health of their prostates at risk.  Especially the heavier coffee drinkers. So, a study was done, as studies usually are when there is a beloved traditional food’s reputation on the line for potentially stealing health from you!

The studies showed that there was no statistically significant link between prostate cancer or prostate health and drinking coffee. They did not see any link between coffee consumption and lower prostate risk either. So coffee, at least according to this one study ( we all know that some other study will come out and conflict with this one, that just seems to be how things go), really is not a common denominator one way or another when it comes to men and getting prostate cancer.

I certainly am glad, because some mornings when I don’t have a cup of joe, I can definitely tell i have caffeine withdrawal. I get headaches and really cranky. But if I can dry out for a week or two, the headaches go away. Ahh, coffee, why do you have to taste so good, especially on cold winter mornings?
