Man’s Penis Removed, He Says Without Consent

I think we may have touched on this or a similar, mind boggling story just a few months back, but then again this may just be bizarrely related to this newest story on a man who says his penis was removed - yeah, you read that right - removed - without his consent.  Now, before we get into this let’s just try to get our minds around it.

Say you go in for surgery, say that you don’t expect your penis to be removed.  And then you come out of surgery only to find that your most precious asset is gone - kaput, removed surgically never to be seen again.  Thrown in some surgical garbage with other body parts that will be sent to some horrible body part disposal sight.

I know this is the image that most men may conjure up, but seriously when I think about it, it’s hard for me to believe that any doctor would accidentally remove a man’s genitalia and then deny that he did anything wrong, unless he was authorized to remove the penis in the first place.  That’s why this guy’s claims sound a little suspicious.  Here’s the scoop on this bizarre penis story.

The story is a little more complicated than I made it out to be at first actually, because the man (the patient) who had his penis removed has cancer, and the doctor that removed his penis says that the removal of the penis was medically necessary and that the patient understood that and consented to having it removed.

The plaintiffs are suing the doctor and the anesthesiologist who were on his case because he says that he did not give consent, whereas the doctor is implying he had implied consent from him because he had his consent to do anything “necessary”.  He had originally gone in for a scheduled circumcision surgery as part of cancer treatment and ended up with his penis removed.  I don’t know, what do you think about this story?  A man who had a similar situation was awarded a large sum of money, do you think he may get a large settlement?  I think he might after reading more on the case.
