NYC Wants You To “Get Some” with New Condom Campaign
New York City has never been one to get a reputation for being coy about much of anything, and now you can add sex and protected, fun sex to that uninhibited list also. New Yorkers will now be greeted in popular, crowded areas with people handing out condoms encouraging New Yorkers to “Get Some”, which is their new slogan to get people to use condoms and have protected sex, and to educate them about the health and preventive benefits of only having protected sex.
New York City is one of the few US cities that gives away condoms for free, and has been for quite some time now, in an effort to make New York a “safer place to have sex”. This new campaign is hoping to capture people’s attention even more with it’s catchy phrase “Get some”, which is one that is popular amongst the pop culture set these days. Think of it as the Got Milk slogan, only this time it’s for condoms and a potentially life saving habit development of safe, enjoyable sex.
The free condom campaign has been in an effort to clean up the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV, and also to help prevent unwanted pregnancies. The campaign apparently now features a catchy condom wrapper as well, with bold letters saying NYC Condom and a brighter, more noticeable lettering.
Since the campaign with the bolder packaging, they have just about doubled the amount of condoms handed out, and they intend to increase their numbers more and more over time by making themselves increasingly visible and making their campaigns appealing to a broader population of people. Wonder if they’re giving away ribbed condoms too? Viva la safe sex!
