Possible New STD Causing Concern

A possible new STD (or sexually transmitted disease), is causing concern in the medical community as of late, and it is thought to be a type of staph infection that is extremely antibiotic and drug resistant that is spreading primarily among gay populations of men through (presumable) skin contact that occurs during sexual activity and intimacy.

And this is definitely not something to be taken lightly, because until they can find something strong enough to cure the problem, it has the potential to kill those it infects, most of whom will die in the hospital while being treated for it.  The MRSA infection has thought to be primarily centered in San Francisco in the gay population, so that is being called the “epicenter” of the spread, and is being focused on educating on what the signs are and how to avoid getting it until further research is done and it can be determined exactly what they are dealing with.

The best defense against any STD, whether you are a man or a woman, is abstinence, unless of course you are in a 100% monogomous relationship that you can state for certain is not compromised.  A lot of trust is involved with that, yes, but it is better than being single and not really knowing what you’re getting into.

Sometimes I’m really glad I’m in an exclusive relationship, when I hear things like this, it’s scary out there lately for men and women in this day and age of uncertainty, and then again, what are you supposed to do, where a chastity belt for the rest of your life?  There is such a thin line between caution and paranoia, but you have to find a good compromise between the two for your own safety and longevity.

Male Odor Eater NodorO Introduced to Market

Yep, guys, you probably know what we mean when we talk about “male odor”.  It’s exactly what we mean when we talk about “female odor”, and it’s a nice, politically correct way to say that everyone gets a case of odorous genitals once in while.  Well, a newly invented product has recently just come out called NodorO that supposedly makes male genital odors all but disappear.  Perfect news for those of us that wanted to take care of this problem so our girlfriends, wives and partners wouldn’t be afraid to get near our nether regions!

While most people tend to think that genital odor is mostly a female problem, but it really also belongs to men.  Men sweat down there took, and add that to the fact that it’s a damper place, and you’ve got a recipe for some fairly nasty odor, especially if you’ve been working out and sweating, or if it’s a hot day and you’ve been running around a lot.

NodorO is an over the counter cream that can be applied, supposedly safely, to a male’s genital area and will prevent any nasty odors from occuring, or make them go away.  Not sure what it’s formulated with, but the company just released the product, so you can probably go online and get a little more product information if it’s something you think might be useful.

The cream is not supposed to just cover up the smell, but actually kill the microscopic fungi that are responsible for the smell, and they say that this particular brand of smell happens more to men who are uncircumcised, but it also can happen to the men that are circumcised, so no one is immune.

Testosterone Supplements Not Much Help?

A new study (one of many, conflicting studies, might I add), is showing that men who take testosterone pills to help restore their health, vim and vigor of their youth when they are getting up in years, are not gaining sufficient health benefits from them, if any at all.  While the men in the study, a decent amount of men in age range from about 60 years old to 80 years old, did experience a decrease in body fat and also an increase in muscle (a hallmark of testosterone, and a reason why man men love to have a lot of it, understandably), was noticed, but other men’s health effects and overall well being increases were not observed so far.

As researchers noticed the increase in muscle mass, they also noted though that this did not increase the men’s mobility who were on the testosterone supplements as compared to the men who were simply put on a placebo.  And, perhaps most disappontingly of all, the men on the low dose testosterone did not experience increases in mental capacity, or any marked improvement in their medical faculties.

The men who were chosen for the testosterone supplement study were actually men who were picked because they had shown lower than normal testosterone levels.  Perhaps though, their bodies had allowed their bodily functions to adapt accordingly, and this is why the newly introduced higher levels of testosterone did not produce the expected benefit?  I definitely don’t claim to be a scientist, but it seems like something may be missing from this study, as other studies have shown testosterone supplementation to be helpful.

Faster Than a Speeding Bullet, Stronger Than a …. Sperm??

Yep, that’s right.  Men’s sperm is being looked at as a possible locomotion tool to propel tiny medical devices and instruments throughout the body.  Or at least the mechanisms that propel the little sperm, which are known as being nature’s greatest swimmers, especially considering their microscopic size.

The mechanism that propels a man’s sperm in his ejaculate (products like Deer Antler Plus are supposed to help increase ejaculate and hence the pleasure derived from male orgasm or climax) is called the flagellum, if you recal junior high biology class very well (much of which I’ve admittedly forgotten myself), and this is the part of the sperm that is prized for it’s locomotion capability, or the ability to move something throughout the body or somewhere else.

And what makes the sperm’s amazing journey throughout a woman’s body so miraculous, and faster than anything known to any type of distance or speed swam by man on earth?  Well, it’s part of the tail of the sperm that produces the mechanisms that make this jet like propelling motion and quick movement possible.

Along the tail are a series of mechanisms that work in unison, and they are all made of a dynamic compound called ATP, which is known for it’s dynamic movement capabilities, especially when paired with a beating-like movement that gets the stronger swimmers to where they need to go.  It truly is one of nature’s greatest marvels if you think about it, and when sperm is taken from exceptionally healthy men, it just makes for all that much  more perfect specimens for such lofty and ambitious experiments in science.

So, in too much scientific jargon boiled down to just the laymen’s terms, scientists want to borrow the “technology” of male sperm and use it to bind to tiny gold or other metal chips that are to be implanted in to the body as a tiny medical device in the near future.  The propel motion provided by the proteins and other chemicals in the sperm are truly nature’s most perfect locomotion for these medical devices, and scientists know that they can borrow the science and make it even better.

LibiGel Female Sexual Enhancement Drug Tested

A new product is being tested in Virginia currenlty as a possible female answer to the male enhancement drug Viagra, for women with low libido, or hypoactive sex drive, which is said to affect roughly one third of all women!  That’s an astounding number, and not the best news for men who seem to not have that problem as much, but more so have problems with impotence, premature ejaculation, and sometimes have a low libido problem which they need help for.

The product is a little different from Viagra though, because it is not a pill that is swallowed, but instead is a gel that is applied externally the woman’s upper arm, and the product is supposed to absorb and go to work to within the next 24 hours after application and boost a woman’s desire for sex.  The product, called LibiGel (a play on the word “libido”), is supposed to contain testosterone, which is the hormone often cited as being the primary revver-upper of sexual desire, as well as some other more inactive ingredients that are stilled designed to enhance sensation.

The drug is also being tested by almost 100 other institutions currently as an effective female sexual enhancement product that can compete with Viagra but only in the female market, and it is made by a pharmaceutical company called BioSante that is based in Illinois.  If the drug is tested as effective and reasonably safe, it could get the greenlight from the FDA fairly quickly, especially since it is an externally applied product and is not an actual internal product.

It’s high time that a pharmaceutical company comes out with a product that addresses women’s lack of sex drive, because we all know that men have a bevy of male sexual enhancement drugs to choose from, not to mention tons more herbal alternatives to sexual enhancement for men than there are currently for women, which is something we hope to be seeing change in this 2008 year.

Viagra Active Ingredient Found in Another “Herbal” Product

In recent news and the latest company that has been found to be sneaking in impotence medications of the pharmaceutical variety, another company who sells several allegedly “natural” or herbal products has been found to be adding the active ingredient that is in the popular impotencce and male sexual enhancement drug Viagra.  Why does this matter so much?

Well first of all, men taking these types of products do not know that it contains a pharmaceutical drug, and are taking it under false pretenses that it is all natural.  Harmful drug interactions may take place if the people taking the herbal supplement for male enhancement are on other drugs, and this can result in serious medical injury and in some cases even death if the interaction is extremely volatile.

Not only that, but some men choose not to go on impotence drugs like Viagra and Cialis because they have medical conditions that the drugs have been known to exacerbate of worsen.  This latest company to breach consumer faith is a company called Shangai Distributor Inc.

The company which distrtibutes male and female sexual enhancement products sold under several names, mostly with the Shangai name in them, is based out of Puerto Rico, and health officials are warning men and women who are taking the supplements to back off if they feel they may have conditions that interact negatively with the drug Viagra.

Hopefully this type of news doesn’t damage the herbal male enhancement industry, because there really are a lot of good players in it as well.  I’m hoping it’s not a case of one bad apple spoiling it for the good apples who truly offer superior natural alternatives for men who suffer from impotence, premature ejaculation and other sexual health issues.

Green Tea and Prostate Cancer

When it comes to your prostate health, the more information you have that may help cut your risks of developing this common male cancer, the better.  We all know that the earlier you can catch prostate cancer the better, and supposedly research is being carried out in Asia that is producing compelling evidence that men who drink vast amounts of green tea, a known antioxidant powerhouse, have a much lesser chance at developing advanced prostate cancer.

What’s a “vast amount” of prostate cancer?  Well, five cups a day!  Even when compared to men who only drank one cup of green tea every single day, men who consumed five cups a day of the tea actually had much lesser chances of developing advanced prostate cancer.

There is still more research and testing to be done of course on why and how much of the stuff you have to drink to get the benefits, but I’d say this makes a rather compelling case for introducing green tea into your diet and getting to like the taste, especially if you are in the age group where prostate cancer starts to become more of a risk.

Another reason to drink tea is more or less somewhat anecdotal when it comes to prostate cancer occurrence and prevention.  Asian men tend to get prostate cancer much less than western societies, and this may be partly due to the fact that they consume a lot more green tea, as is customary in this part of the world.  Now, we could say that asian men may be just genetically less predisposed to prostate cancer to begin with, but the studies also indicate that green tea has something to do with their impressively lesser rate of cancer there.

Green tea also presents a bevy of other health benefits, including increased energy, even better skin, so it makes sense to try to fit this powerful drink into your diet anyways, right?
