Merv Griffin Succumbing to Prostate Cancer?

I just read some sad news that Merv Griffin may be finally succumbing to the late stages of prostate cancer at the age of 82.  Merv had battled with a diagnosis of the male disease back in 1996, and after he thought he was free and clear, he was declared to have the cancer back after a routine doctor’s visit just a few months ago.  Makes you wonder if you’d rather just not know at that point, which is something I’ve often thought about.  Would you really want to know if you had serious cancer recurrence, especially at the age of 82?

I don’t know, sometimes it just seems that once people find out, that’s when they really start to go downhill, perhaps their mental state and the knowledge that they have cancer or have the cancer back lending to the relapse and the subsequent spread of cancer.  Of course, this knowledge/sickness link cannot be proven really, but there are many anecdotal stories that support this type of thought.

Merv Griffin is perhaps best known for his role in the entertainment industry, or more specifically, the game show host and game show industry, and it seemed as if he didn’t age for years upon years.  Looking at a picture of him as recent as 2000, he still looked very good for being as old as he was then which would have been his mid seventies.  But unfortunately, prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men who are over the age of 40 and 50 years old, when the risk of developing prostate cancer dramatically intensifies as does other things that can start to happen to the male body.

Let’s all hope Merv gets through this ok, and keeps his spirits about him on this journey, whether he is doing well physically or not.  Good luck Merv!  This is another reason why maintaining prostate health is so very important, especially as men age.  There are of course other things that one can do to help themselves out to prevent the occurrence of the disease as well, but taking a good prostate health supplement may help to replenish certain nutrients in the body that can be beneficial to keep the prostate healthy and cancer free.
