Men’s Multivitamins Don’t Pass Tests in Some Cases

An interesting study came out that was by no means comprehensive, but nonetheless has some interesting implications for the health and vitamin supplement for men industry, for sure.  The study was aimed at either debunking the claims of certain multivitamins that are currently on the market, or satisfying their claims of vitamin substance, and freedom of contaminants.  What the studies and analysis came up with though, is actually pretty disturbing.

Many of the popular multivitamins for men that are on the market today did not stand up to the tests given.  In other words, some didn’t contain the percentage RDA of each vitamin that the label claimed, or the vitamin did not dissolve in adequate time in order that it would be passed through the digestive track and be fully digested and absorbed as it should be for maximum potency.

Another alarming thing came up too though on these multivitamins, and that is that some were even found to be contaminted with things like lead, and other heavy metals that could be harmful if swallowed.  One particular formula was actually alarmingly high in lead, which is a substance that should be nowhere near any product that is manufactered for ingestion by a human.

One thing the researchers said is that you do get what you pay for, and buying reputable brands are the best way to go if you’re in doubt.  I take it this means to stay away from the store brands, and that is exactly what I do.  I prefer to buy mine from high quality providers.
