HPV Vaccine Apparently Being Given Already

I posted about the new HPV vaccine just a little while ago, which is a vaccination currently only being given to women since they are most affected by certain strains of the virus that can lead to cervical cancer. I was under the impression the vaccine wasn’t being given out yet, but apparently it is.

I just read a news story about how a teenage girl was given the option, through her mother, to get the vaccination during a routine exam. There was some debate on putting an age limit on it, but they are leaving it up to the child and parents to decide whether they want it.

It is not being given to men, but may actually be given to men in the future, to prevent outbreaks that are potentially harmful to women. The vaccination is actually more effective when given at a younger age, since most likely sexual activity has not begun yet.
