Is Scent a Male Aphrodisiac?

There are a lot of people that swear certain scents make them suddenly feel “in the mood” for sex and affection - both men and women. One of the most common scents that are known to stir the passions of men is supposedly the scent of vanilla. Is there anything to it, or is the vanilla aprhodisiac thing just an old wive’s tale? Are these scents almost like the equivalent of human pheromones or something, working their magic on our innermost basic instincts, awakening some sort of animalistic sexual desires, or is it just a strong personal scent- association psychological thing going on?

Well, there is DEFINITELY something to the fact that certain scents can awaken feelings of sexual desire and increase the libido. Why else do you think perfume makers would work so hard to figure this stuff out, and perform tests on the opposite sex to figure out what smells turn them on or evoke certain memories, longing, feelings and emotions?

It has been scientifically proven our sense of smell is directly linked to the part of our brain that makes us feel emotions, and where our memories are stored. Powerful stuff!

There are also lots of aromatherapy kits and products that are made especially for eroticism, lovers and especially sold as aphrodisiacs. Again, vanilla is common for men, and the spicy fragrance ylang ylang is a common aphrodisiac for women. More powerful that the pheromone phenomena? Probably not, but at least you smell really nice in the process!
