How Sleep May Help Your Sex Life

Getting enough sleep helps so many of our body’s functions, including our ability to think clearly and to perform physically.  So it only makes sense that getting the adequate amount of sleep that you personally need would help boost of increase the quality of your sex life and sexual performance.

I  know lots of guys who complain that sometimes they just don’t have the energy to be romantic or engage in sex with their partners.  This may be due to  a lack of sleep, a long day at work, or other stressors that tend to drain our sex life of quality and quantity.

It’s been proven that lack of sleep can help to drain our libido as well, because lack of sleep simply destroys all willpower to do anything that requires extra thought, concentration, or physical energy output.

So, How Much Sleep is Enough that Your Sex Life Doesn’t Suffer?

Well, the good old rule of thumb of eight hours of solid, continuous and high quality sleep may definitely play in here.  For many years, the eight hour rule has been adhered to as a safe number to assume is the right amount of sleep for most individuals, including men and women, and getting less than this may actually zap women’s and men’s libido due to exhaustion both mentally and physically.

Think about it, when our bodies and minds are tired, we only do the “bare minimum” to get through our day.  We may skip that workout, or other strenuous activity, and instead opt to veg out in front our tv or computers all night. The last thing on our mind is going to be something that is not an absolute necessity, like eating or drinking, but instead a carnal pleasure that is not needed to sustain ourselves (well, this could be argued).

So, get your 8 hours, or as close to it as you can every night, and your sex life should not suffer.  Also remember, getting TOO MUCH sleep can also be detrimental to your  body functions, so if anything, try to get 7-8 hours of sleep instead of 9-10 hours of sleep.
