South Korean Men Getting More Plastic Surgery : A Trend?

It seems that men all across the world are getting plastic surgery more and more, as the “metrosexual” phenomena spreads.  Men are getting procedures like liposuction, eyelid lifts and under eye tucks, tummy tucks, breast reductions for male breasts that have forme (gynecomastia is the medical term), face lifts and more.  I mean, for God’s sake, have you seen Mickey Rourke’s new face?  Bruce Jenners?  Michael Douglas?

They’ve all gone under the knife.  Who knows who else has gone under the knife, and for what.  Hmm, this brings about a good question - wonder if anyone in Hollywood has undergone penile implants?  I would love to know, but unfortunately I’m sure us “little people” will never know that little tidbit.

Anyways, the article brought up the fact that Korean men seem to be opting for plastic surgery more and more now, as a trend toward what they call “ubersexual,” a more macho breed of men whose straight sexual orientation is unambiguous. But in Seoul, the trend veers the other way, toward the “cross-sexual” — an androgynous form of beauty.

Crazy how different cultures view sexuality and the need for aesthetic and physical acceptance in this society and others too - it’s all just a little different based on cultural biases and ideals.
