What’s Genetics Got To Do with It?

Genetics may play a part in male sexual dysfunction, but there have not been enough studies specifically targeting this theory to say it definitely is true or even partially true. As far as specific medically acknowledged causes that are genetically related to sexual dysfunction in males are autonomic neuropathy and diabetic neuropathy, both of which can be passed from family member to family member.

However, the main causes of sexual dysfunction which are medically recognized and readily accepted are as follows:

1.) Substance induced - in other words are you on a medication of street drugs which could be influencing your libido, or your ability to get or maintain an erection?

2.) Stress or anxiety induced - I think we all could claim this one at various times in our life. Even if you haven’t had any problems so far, stress and anxiety about different things going on in your life can trigger impotence and premature ejaculation or other issues such as inability to maintain a full erection faster than you can say “Sex”.

We’ll discuss more triggers of commonly acknowledged causes of male sexual disorders next time - I’m running late!
